Alicia Alamo has been honored as one of the 100 Women of Color for her
outstanding contribution to the community. As the Executive Director of
Bridging the Gap, she is dedicated to improving community health through
innovative programs and strategic partnerships. With over 15 years of
experience in nonprofit leadership, Alicia has successfully expanded
outreach initiatives and promoted sustainable growth within the
community.
Her previous work includes developing transition programs at Life Purpose,
focusing on supporting underserved individuals. Alicia is deeply passionate
about social equity and community engagement, which continues to
motivate her efforts today.
In addition to her role at Bridging the Gap, Alicia serves as a community
health worker and life coach in Hartford. She specializes in violence
prevention, behavioral health, and recovery support. As a certified
counselor, her motivation stems from her own childhood experiences with
her mother’s addiction and her eight-year incarceration from 2003 to 2010,
during which she received training in her field.
Following her release, Alicia dedicated herself to supporting women and
children in residential programs and working with at-risk youth. As a
lifelong resident of Hartford, her personal journey fuels her commitment to
creating positive change and fostering resilience within her community.
